Grade 11 Educational Tour 2024: National Museum Manila

ree

This September 2024, the Grade 11 Batch visited the National Museum of Anthropology and the National Museum of Natural History in Manila for an educational tour in line with the U.C.S.P. and Komunikasyon at Pananaliksik courses for research purposes. During this visit, the students were given an opportunity to be enlightened further about our history and culture—with the knowledge to be used for the Performance Task of the Grade 11 in the aforementioned courses.

Throughout late August and the entirety of September 2024, each class from Grade 11 went to Manila for an educational tour. First to tour was 11-St. Candida, followed by 11-St. Lorenzo, then 11-St. Pedro, and finally 11-St. Ignatius on September 27. Students were instructed to go to school by 7:15 a.m., and departed as a class at 7:30 a.m. from the school in two vans. Upon arriving at the National Museum, students toured the National Museum of Anthropology. Then, the students had their lunch break. During the afternoon, the students toured the National Museum of Natural History. At around 2:30 p.m, they finally departed from Manila to go back to Manresa School.

Jada Ongkingco, a student who participated, remarked that “it was an eye opening experience”. Additionally, Alan Bondoc—another student who participated, said that he “had such a good time” and that  “...[he was] fascinated with all the artifacts and the stories behind them”.

The tour itself was an amazing experience full of learning and erudition—where students were given a glimpse into Filipino history and anthropology in different ways. Based on a few comments by Grade 11 students, the tour was helpful for their research in their Performance Task. Hopefully, this event can be a starting point for a future where students are once again given the possibility to explore in an educational setting with their classmates.
