Manresa School Celebrates Once More an Exhilarating Vision-Mission Day with the High School Department

The High School Department of Manresa School exhilarated themselves through the activities prepared by the school for the Vision-Mission Day.

On October 15, 2024, Tuesday, Manresa School commemorated their second celebration of the Vision-Mission Day. The program was solely for the High School department, as the first celebration was held last September 24, 2024, Tuesday, in the Grade School department. Both celebrations shared the theme of “Recalling, Reflecting, and Reliving the Values of Being a Tatak Hijas: Kapatid sa Kapwa.” Given the event’s theme, it aims to recall the Christ-centeredness of Saint Candida; reflect the way Manresans lived as Tatak Manresans; and relive the objective of Manresa School’s Vision-Mission in all aspects of life.

The event was divided into two parts. The first part was the classroom-based activities facilitated by selected student volunteers from the Senior High School department. It began with the usual morning routine of conducting the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, and Manresa Hymn. Instead of proceeding to the usual recital of the Manresa School’s Vision-Mission statement afterwards, the students watched a short video instead that presented scenarios along with choices to pick from for how they will respond to the scenarios; it entails the values of the school’s Vision-Mission statement that Manresans should practice when encountered with such scenarios. The games then proceeded, namely: (1) Pass the Message, where students formed a line to pass their answer to a question related to the Vision-Mission until the last student in line without making any noise; (2) Act that Vision-Mission required the formed groups from the class to create a skit from their randomly chosen Manresan values; and (3) Puzzle Relay, where they had to do a relay and puzzle the pieces of a specific location in Manresa School together. The games aimed at developing the students’ encouragement, teamwork, and the other values that the school’s Vision-Mission is promoting. The first part of the celebration concluded with an Agape Recess, where the class feasted together while sharing foods and worth-sharing life stories.

The second part of the event was then held in the auditorium. The program started with the activity “Sigaw Ng Iyong Kabatch”, where each high school batch from grade 7 to grade 12 had to collectively and competitively cheer for the chant they made that is in relation to the school’s Vision-Mission statement. The winners were announced later on which are ordered 1st to 3rd are as follows: Grade 12, Grade 9, and Grade 11. It was followed by “Vision MisShow” that featured selected teachers and students from the different batches of the High School Department. The invited teachers and students shared values to the audiences while narrating their life’s experiences as Tatak Manresans. The latter of the program was a concert-for-a-cause of the teachers and students namely, “Musika Para sa Kinabukasan”. The songs they performed were based on the following themes: trust, excellence, faith in God, responsibility, and serving others. The gathered financial donations from the concert will proceed to the two selected student beneficiaries of Manresa School. The program concluded with asking everyone to stand up for “Fix You” by Coldplay as the closing prayer.

Vision-Mission Day is a biennial event of Manresa School, where it will be celebrated once every two years. Though the program will not be celebrated annually, the lessons taken from the Manresa School’s Vision-Mission statement will continue to remain in the hearts of the Manresa community.

“It was such a wonderful experience performing for the concert for a cause! Truly, I felt the spirit of fraternity among myself and my fellow teachers in the "VMD Band" as we hurriedly yet enjoyably worked together on our performance on the day of the concert itself... I will never forget the joy in my heart as I sat on our living room set onstage serenading our beloved students and hearing them cheer, clap, and, most of all, sing loudly with us--as one big happy family of St. Candida jamming together for the common good. <3”

- Ms. Xan Orial

“We, the teachers, were a little nervous because we encountered technical difficulties, but I believe we pulled through because our focus wasn’t on impressing people but on delivering the message to the Manresan Community about the purpose of Vision Mission Day. That purpose is to become the best version of ourselves and the best Manresans we can be—Manresans who aspire to be excellent, discerning, loving, caring, and faithful, not for ourselves, but for others and for the Lord. After not only our performance but the entire first-ever Vision Mission Day, I’m convinced that this event should be a ‘must-have activity’ and something to look forward to yearly, as it will serve as a reminder of the identity God wants for us as Manresans, especially in moments when we may forget it, when we forget who we are.”

- Mr. Ian Rosales

“It was a thrilling experience where I, as a musician, could express my passion and talent for a good cause. I'm honored to have been a part of the Vision-Mission day not only as a performer, but also as an advocator for the Manresan Scholars.”

- Enzo Llanes

"Organizing the event added a whole new shade for my hair from black to grey! Nevertheless, it was the most fulfilling thing I could have ever done for this educative community as I felt that I finally could give back to the school that raised me. In a way, that could be the message of the Vision-Mission day; giving back, giving connection, and giving your all for others."

- Jacques Ausan

As a new student of Manresa School, I felt unprepared and nervous when someone volunteered me to teach elementary and highschool students because it was my first time teaching in a different school. With a positive mindset and good skills, I know to myself that I can do it. Regardless of it being challenging, it was amusing to have great bonds and share significant memories with the students I taught, to which I’ll never forget.

- Enzo Livelo

“I think the activities sa Vision-Mission day was actually fun and it should be done again soon. Parang christmas party yung vibe niya since it's very chill tsaka may handaan pa which really makes you forget about the pressuring deadlines sa academics. I think the concept of entertaining the students with uplifting and relatable songs while also being a bin for donation was a genius idea because it makes us feel as if we are not only helping someone out but also donating in exchange for the entertainment and the reassurance of the activities that we are not alone in life.”
