The Manresan Educative Family celebrated World Educators’ Day last October 8, 2024 to give a show of appreciation and love to our dearest educators in Manresa School. The event was spearheaded by the Manresa School General Student Board (MSGSB) and assisted by the Senior High School Student Government (SHSSG) in all departments.
World Teachers’ Day is a globally recognized celebration held annually on October 5—which gives reverence and recognition to educators all around the world. Educators are one of the cornerstones of advancement and excellence in society, guiding learners to self-actualize and become useful members of society and church. We, as Manresans, recognize the ever-so-diligent educators who have been bestowed to us by the providence of God.
The day started with a flag flying and display of flags from nations wherein the Hijas de Jesús congregation is present. Afterwards, a thanksgiving mass presided by Rev. Fr. Erwin Arandia, SJ commemorating World Teachers’ Day and the Declaration of the Heroic Virtues of Sr. Ma. Vicenta Guilarte, FI. Directly after the mass, the junior and senior high school departments celebrated the occasion through a program in the auditorium organized by the MSGSB and assisted by the SHSSG. Likewise, the elementary and preschool departments had a program in the Old gymnasium.
To kick off the event for the highschool department, the C.A.T. Officers of SY 2024-2025 presented a well-organized Parade of Colors to everyone with the stern supervision of Mr. Limwel Lamoc, the current CAT commandant. Afterwards, the high school educators were called per level to sit in their designated seats in the auditorium—with effervescent cheers and applause delightfully engulfing the area as our educators walked down the aisles. Then, Audrina Mendoza, the current MSGSB President led the opening prayer. To formally begin the event, the emcees, namely Nicole Tungol, Edwin Tantongco, and Allara Panaligna called up Kolynne Cabrera, a student volunteer from Grade 10 Generosity to convey their opening remarks.
Thereafter, the emcees introduced a dance group who in turn presented an eye-catching and exciting show of dance for the educators. Following the dance performance, three amazing singers consecutively took the stage and sang their hearts out to the educators, each amazing in their own way. Firstly, Lara de Lara sang Bukod-Tangi by Cup of Joe. Subsequently, Brianna Tejada sang Fearless by Taylor Swift. Lastly, Rivers Paulino sang Araw Gabi by Regine Velasquez. All of the performances were breathtaking—from Lara’s mezzo-soprano lows to Brianna’s soprano lows and mids and Rivers’ astounding soprano highs! As Ms. Diane Tarcena, a teacher from the SHS department currently teaching the course Komunikasyon at Pananaliksik sa Wika at Kulturang Pilipino remarked, “...nakakatuwa at nakakaproud bilang guro na mayroong mga estudyanteng nagpakita ng kanilang talento”. To fill in for some technical difficulties occurring after the performance, a few educators flaunted their skills in singing as well!
For the final part of the event, the teachers were heartwarmed as a short thanksgiving video made by JHS students expressing their gratitude and love for their teachers was presented. To formally end the event, Marla Tarrosa was called to deliver a few closing remarks and Aerin Macasaet to lead the closing prayer.
After the event, high school students continued the day with regular classes. Despite this, students found the time and gave in the effort to prepare something special for their advisers and teachers in their respective classrooms! Greetings were heard, gifts were given, and our dearest educators were reduced to tears of joy.
Educators’ Day 2024 was one for the books as the Manresan Family was given the opportunity to truly give thanks to our second parents—our educators. More than gratitude, the student body was able to show how much our educators really mean to us with our actions, preparations, and gifts. Ms. Mary Joy Angobung, the adviser of Grade 11 St. Pedro even said that she “felt seen” and that the “little things the students did for us were unexpected and had a great impact” when she was asked about how she felt after experiencing Educator’s Day.
To all the educators in the world, Happy Teachers’ Day! Mabuhay ang mga tagapagturo!
